These students used similar motifs from the Matrix and popular hip-hop songs and incorporated Greek life into it. They wore their colors, mainly blue and black, and masks, as well. They demonstrated that they could carry on the culture in forms of dancing and stepping to the beat. They also were very energetic and allowed the audience to react to their wild and spontaneous movements.

Meaning:

The Statewide Competition, which took place in Indiana, is a competition where different fraternities and sororities step in the state; the chapter that wins does not only receive thousands of dollars, but in the statewide step shows gets to present the next annual step show at their school. Since the Sigma Fraternity won last year, they had the opportunity to present the step show this year. The fraternities included in this competition were Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Gamma Eta Chapter), Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Alpha Chapter), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Zeta Epsilon Chapter), Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (Epsilon Iota Chapter) and the Sororities were Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Gamma Nu Chapter), Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Delta Epsilon Chapter), and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (Epsilon Chi Chapter). Different troupes came from across the nation to see this huge event. The Sigmas won again this year and furthermore proved that they could accomplish anything; they carried out their traditions and allowed thousands of students to embrace their folklore.
